Privacy Policy for SnapCal

Effective Date: May 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SnapCal ("we", "our", or "the app") handles information when you use the app.

SnapCal is a calendar and task assistant that can analyze content you share from Android share sheet, generate summaries, extract events and tasks, store reminders and alarms, and show a floating widget for quick access.

1. Information We Process

1.1 Content You Choose to Share

When you send content to SnapCal for analysis, we may process the material you intentionally provide, such as:

  • text
  • screenshots and images
  • PDF files
  • shared documents or other supported files

This content is processed so the app can generate a summary, identify calendar events or tasks, and help you add them to your schedule.

1.2 Schedule and Reminder Data

If you save something from SnapCal, the app may store:

  • event and task titles
  • descriptions
  • dates and times
  • reminder/alarm settings
  • snooze preferences
  • event type information (for example, event or task)

1.3 App Preferences and State

SnapCal may store lightweight local preferences such as:

  • widget active/inactive state
  • selected snooze duration
  • reminder settings
  • UI preferences needed for app behavior

1.4 Device Permissions

Depending on how you use the app, SnapCal may request access to:

  • notifications, so reminders and alarms can be shown
  • alarms and exact alarm scheduling, so scheduled reminders can ring at the correct time
  • files/media shared to the app, so shared content can be analyzed

SnapCal does not need your contacts, location, or camera access to work for its core features unless a future feature explicitly requests it.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information processed by the app to:

  • analyze shared content and generate summaries
  • extract calendar events, tasks, dates, and reminders
  • save items to your schedule
  • trigger reminders and alarm notifications
  • display and manage the floating widget
  • keep your local app state consistent across screens
  • improve reliability and usability

3. Local Storage

Most calendar items, tasks, reminders, and app state are stored locally on your device using the app's local database and preference storage.

You control this data. You can remove items from the app or uninstall the app to remove locally stored data from your device.

4. Cloud Processing and Third-Party Services

SnapCal uses Firebase Cloud Functions to send your shared content to an AI processing service so the app can analyze the content and produce results.

This means:

  • the content you choose to analyze is transmitted to our backend processing service
  • the backend may use Google/Firebase infrastructure to process the request
  • the AI service is used only to provide the app's analysis features

We do not intentionally sell your data or use it for advertising.

5. Data Sharing

We do not share your personal data with third parties except:

  • service providers that help operate the app's backend and AI analysis features
  • infrastructure providers such as Firebase/Google that process requests on our behalf
  • when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or security of users or the service

6. Data Retention

  • Local data: Schedule items, reminders, widget state, and preferences remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
  • Processing data: Content sent for AI analysis is kept only as long as needed to generate the response and operate the service.

7. Alarm and Notification Behavior

SnapCal can schedule reminders and alarms using Android system services. When a reminder is due, the app may:

  • show a notification
  • play an alarm sound
  • vibrate the device
  • open an alarm screen when permitted by the device and Android version

These actions are used only to notify you about your own scheduled items.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by the app. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children's Privacy

SnapCal is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Your Choices

You can:

  • choose what content to share with the app
  • edit or delete scheduled items
  • turn notifications or alarms off in your device settings
  • uninstall the app to remove local data stored on your device

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will revise the effective date above and may provide an in-app notice when appropriate.
